Deland Show

I like the Deland show. It is close and only 3 days. And not too many people to talk too. Not that I don’t like talking to people. I am just not so good at answering questions like “what engine is installed?” When it clearly says in 3 inch type HKS 700E INSTALLED.  So now you know why I am not in sales. However to sit down with someone and discuss options and build plans and other order details is great.  Those detailed questions are very welcome.

For this show I had just returned from a trip to Ohio and tomorrow I will fly to China. So I made it simple and just borrowed a Merlin fuselage from our build program and rolled it into the booth. Show ended at 5:00 and at 5:03 I was driving home with the Merlin in tow.

This is only the 2nd year for the Deland show and it is growing. Attendance is low but the people who do attend are for the most part very knowledgeable and interested in light sport aircraft. Plus the press is there so that coverage is important.

I would have mush preferred to fly to Deland but my demo Merlin is up in Ohio doing flight testing.

Here I am (wearing the parachute) with my support team. The last flight I climbed to 7,000 feet in only 9 minutes and that included some taxi time. Plus I had full fuel and more than 100 lbs in the baggage compartment. Cruise was a nice 105 MPH. The Merlin is really performing well. The more I fly it the more I like it and I liked it a lot from the first flight!
