Our friends in France received government funding some time ago to research & develop quieter propellers. This new blade shape and offset prop angles is the result. However nearly any prop will be quiet when it is spinning slowly. That is our expectations with our new motor design: High torque at low RPMs. I am expecting to have plenty of cruise torque at only 1,200 RPM which is half of the normal speed of the prop of most gas engines.  But to absorb that torque and turn it into thrust I know we needed both more blades and more blade area. This new 4-blade prop provides both. Plus it is adjustable in pitch so we can fine-tune it to match the motor power and our flight speeds. The goal is to reach the magical dBA number of 48 at 125 feet. About like a ceiling fan on high. I learned last year that one of the greatest benefits of electric power is the quiet motor which is nearly completely negated by loud prop noise. I am really looking forward to truly quiet powered flight.
