Michael Sandlin, an American aerospace engineer, designed the GOAT UL glider more than 10 years ago. Since then dozens of the Goat have been built and are flying worldwide. The design has proven the test of time.

The Zigolo is unique in that it not only may be flown like a classic ultralight in smooth dawn or evening patrol conditions but also performs well as a motor-glider and can float in thermalling conditions. Two aircraft in one!

AVIAD, a small Italian company, morphed it into a motor-glider. The AVIAD Zigolo MG12 is a SSDR (Single Seat De-Regulated) ultralight motor glider offering an alternative flying experience.

It has excellent slow flight characteristics and a short landing and take off distance of 130 feet. This aircraft meets the USA FAA FAR Part 103 rules for UL (SSDR) aircraft in USA, China, and other countries.

Quick-build kits sell for $12,000 with gasoline engines and around $20,000 with electric power.

We installed and ground-tested the electric motor on the Zigolo. Flight tests will begin after the motor dynometer mapping in progress. Just as soon as the complete electric power system is quantified and tested we can begin accepting orders and shipping Zigolo kits. Several customers have reserved delivery positions with a $10 deposit.

The AVIAD Zigolo MG12 is an SSDR motor glider designed and manufactured in Italy offering an alternative flying experience.

It has slow flight characteristics plus a short landing and takeoff distance of 50 meters. This is a new departure in the form of a minimal three axis SSDR Motor Glider perfectly suited for fun flying.

The AVIAD Zigolo MG12 is specifically designed for simple construction and low cost of ownership, it has a traditional tubular frame structure and simple bonded fabric covering thus providing a very robust design.

It incorporates several additional novel design features, a forward pilot cockpit protected by the fuselage frame work and providing an exceptionally wide field of view for improved airmanship.

The rear mounted pusher engine with propeller and the fuel tank are also contained within the airframe offering further protection.

The joy stick mounted engine throttle control further simplifies the aircraft’s flight controls enabling additional tasks to be achieved by the pilot in flight.

Zigolog-MG12 from air

The shock absorbing undercarriage and the impact skid beneath the pilots seat further protects the occupant in cases of heavier than normal landings.

A ballistic parachute recovery system is included as a standard item for ultimate emergency use.

The Zigolo design also provides easily constructed airframe assembly modules and is ideally suited for road trailer transportation.

It can be supplied with a storage racking system design for home use but which may easily be adapted for a transportation trailer.


The new quick-remove wing system enables a ready-to-fly aircraft to be achieved within 20 minutes or less once you’ve reached the chosen airfield. It now only takes a couple of minutes per wing to detach from the airframe.

  • Fly with a speed range of 35-75 km\hr (22-46 m.p.h.) and good stability.
  • The Zigolo is easily transported on a small utility trailer.

MINIMALISTIC FLYING! Everything you need and not much else! Take off in 120 feet, climb with the 25hp well-proven and respected.

Vittorazi Moster 185 engine, feel the thermals and soar like an Eagle!

You can assemble this aircraft yourself in only about 100 hours. The kit is complete including all hardware. Both the quick-build kit and the finished aircraft include the Vittorazi Moster 185 engine including propeller and quiet exhaust system and the airspeed indicator.
